There was an old Marine that was on my route. Each time I passed by, he held up one hand with all five fingers extended, and one hand with the thumb only. This sign was to encourage me. He could see my struggles with the heavy loads I carried. And if I ever needed help I could just call on him and he would come to my rescue. Those six extended fingers meant that he had my six. All six sides. Front, back, left side, right side, top and bottom.
In scripture, the Lord promises to have our six. In Deuteronomy 31:8 He promises to go before and with. In Psalm 139:5 He promises that He goes before and behind us. Isaiah 52:12 He promises to go before and to be our rear guard. Psalm 91:7 He promises to defeat our enemies on our left and right by the thousands.
Be encouraged dear one. Although your burden feels heavy, lean in and ask God for help. He has your six, He is just waiting for your signal.
Dwell on these verses today. Deut.1:30, Deut. 31:8, Ps.91:7-12, Ps. 139:1-18, Isaiah 52:12.
